In a bid to enhance road safety ahead of the festive season, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) have rolled out a joint road safety sensitization campaign targeting drivers of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
The week-long initiative, which kicked off in Mombasa, aims to directly engage drivers along the Northern Corridor, raising awareness about safe driving practices and compliance with traffic regulations. Key topics include speed management, proper vehicle maintenance, and defensive driving techniques.
According to NTSA, this campaign is part of a broader effort to curb road accidents, which often spike during the holiday season due to increased travel and heavy vehicle activity.
“By equipping drivers with the knowledge and tools for safer driving, we hope to significantly reduce accidents and save lives,” an NTSA representative stated.
Drivers are encouraged to participate in the program, which includes on-site training sessions and distribution of informational materials. KeNHA and NTSA are urging all road users to embrace road safety as a collective responsibility.
