Alice Ng’ang’a’s Governorship Bid Gains Momentum as Thika Residents Declare Support for 2027
Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a’s political ambitions to succeed Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi in 2027 are gaining momentum, with residents and local leaders openly declaring their support for her gubernatorial bid.
During a public gathering in Thika, residents Francis Njiriri and Kelvin Njenga joined the growing chorus of supporters backing the legislator, citing her development record and accessibility as reasons why they believe she deserves a chance to lead the county.
In her remarks, Ng’ang’a pointed to ongoing road construction projects, including the tarmacking of roads and access routes, as evidence of her commitment to improving infrastructure and transforming the lives of residents.
She argued that her performance as a Member of Parliament was proof that she was ready for the bigger responsibility of leading Kiambu County, adding that a larger mandate would enable her to create more opportunities, particularly for young people.
Ng’ang’a challenged residents to choose leaders whose work they could see and assess rather than those they only heard about.
“Do you want a leader you can see or one you only hear about? When a fire breaks out in your home, will your neighbour come to help you put it out, or someone from far away? That is why someone from home is better than a stranger,” she said.
She further urged residents to consider her track record and the development projects she had initiated, saying her elevation to the governor’s office would allow her to expand service delivery across the county.
The MP also received an endorsement from a speaker who described her as a close political ally, saying he had accompanied her on visits to different parts of Kiambu County, where residents had expressed confidence in her leadership.
He said residents in areas including Limuru, Kiambu and Githunguri had already embraced her potential gubernatorial candidature, adding that people back home had openly identified her as their preferred candidate for the 2027 contest.
The speaker challenged Thika residents to make their position known, prompting calls of support for Ng’ang’a, popularly known as Mama Simba.
The emerging show of support adds to the political conversations surrounding the 2027 Kiambu gubernatorial race, which is expected to attract intense competition as aspirants begin positioning themselves to succeed Wamatangi.
