The university’s continued success reflects its commitment to nurturing student talent. This commitment was exemplified by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi, who led a delegation of senior university officials to support the drama team during the pre-festival gala performance. Prof. Jaganyi encouraged the students to keep pursuing their talents alongside academic excellence.
In a further show of support, the university administration pledged to reschedule examinations for students participating in the drama festival.
The gesture motivated many students who had considered skipping the event due to clashing exam dates.
“As the coordinator in charge of this group, I am extremely proud of what these young talents have accomplished. The greatest joy is seeing them celebrate their hard-earned success,” said William Luta, coordinator of the MKU drama team. “As an office, we will continue to support and empower them.”
This year’s competition featured over 20 universities, including Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi, University of Embu, Meru University, Zetech University, Kabarak University, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Mount Kenya University’s back-to-back victory reaffirms its position as a powerhouse in the creative and performing arts, with its drama team continuing to raise the bar in national competitions.
