JUja Member of Parliament George Koimburi adressing Murera Residents During this years Jamhuri Day Celebrations
President William Ruto’s recent visit to Ichaweri, the ancestral home of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has drawn sharp criticism from Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi.
The legislator accused the President of using the visit as a political manoeuvre to tarnish the reputation of the former head of state, who has largely stayed out of active politics for the past two years.
Speaking at Murera Grounds during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, MP Koimburi called for action on electoral reforms instead.
He urged President Ruto to prioritize the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to empower citizens to recall underperforming legislators.
“This is what Kenyans need—a chance to hold their leaders accountable—not distractions meant to discredit others,” Koimburi said.
The comments add to the ongoing debate surrounding political dynamics and governance in the country.
