Kindiki Lauds Mbeere North UDA Aspirants for Endorsing One Candidate
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has commended aspirants who had expressed interest in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for the upcoming Mbeere North Constituency by-election after they agreed to rally behind a single candidate.
Prof. Kindiki said the move by the aspirants to step down in favor of Mr. Leonard Muriuki, popularly known as Leo, demonstrated admirable leadership and unity within the ruling party ahead of the November 27 poll.
“As a party, we are happy to see the candidates have all agreed to endorse one candidate,” the Deputy President remarked.
Speaking on Saturday during an engagement with youth and grassroots leaders at Karambari Centre in Mbeere North, Embu County, Kindiki assured that the party would throw its full weight behind Mr. Muriuki to secure victory. He further revealed that Mr. Muriuki will be officially handed the UDA nomination certificate next week.
In a show of inclusivity, the Deputy President announced that former area MP Charles Muriuki Njagagua—one of the eight aspirants who stepped down—will head the campaign secretariat. Other aspirants who withdrew from the race will also be part of the team.
“We are grateful to Njagagua for his selflessness. He will be in charge of the secretariat, which will also include the other aspirants. We respect their decision because it is the greatest sacrifice they have made for the people of Mbeere North, and they will be rewarded,” Kindiki said.
The by-election was triggered by the appointment of former MP Geoffrey Ruku as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development.
Mr. Muriuki, while appreciating the support, pledged to work closely with the former aspirants and all residents to deliver a resounding victory for UDA and to ensure development in the constituency.
