Kameme FM News Anchor and Former ICT Authority Board Member Njogu wa Wachira
KAMEME’S NJOGU WA WACHIRA SUMMONED BY EACC OVER ICT AUTHORITY CEO CONTRACT RENEWAL
Kameme FM news anchor and former board member of the ICT Authority, Njogu wa Wachira, has revealed that he is among the individuals summoned to appear before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) next Tuesday over the recent renewal of CEO Stanley Kamanguya’s contract.
Njogu, speaking candidly on the matter, claims that the board—comprising all directors—approved the contract extension in full compliance with legal and procedural requirements. He further disclosed that ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo appended his signature to the board’s resolutions after verifying the integrity of the process.
“This was a unanimous decision. We evaluated the CEO’s performance over the past two years and found it deserving of renewal. CS Kabogo only signed off after satisfying himself that due process had been followed,” he said.
However, Njogu alleges that a powerful clique within government is now orchestrating a scheme to remove Mr. Kamanguya from office, citing his ethnic background as the underlying motive.
“There is a deliberate effort to hound Mr. Kamanguya—who comes from Nyeri County—out of office. These power mandarins are now fishing for technicalities to nullify the CS’s approval and prematurely terminate the renewed contract,” he stated.
Njogu emphasized that the board’s decision was based on performance, not tribal considerations, and insisted that all directors acted in good faith.
“My support was not about where the CEO comes from but based on objective evaluation. So was the stance of every other board member. Our decision was grounded in law and merit,” he added.
He also disclosed that he, along with two other board members, was revoked from the board just four days ago in what he termed as retaliation for standing by the truth.
“My removal was punitive—a direct consequence of defending the rule of law. I believe the CS did not intend for our revocation to be gazetted; it was imposed from elsewhere.”
Addressing Members of Parliament allied to the government from Central Kenya, Njogu sounded the alarm.
“Ceo Kamanguya is being pushed out while you either look away or quietly applaud. If you do not stand up now, the same injustice will repeat itself against others from the region.”
Njogu expressed concern that the principled stance taken by the board and CS Kabogo is now under threat, as unnamed forces push institutions to undermine lawful decisions.
“The fidelity to the rule of law is being violated through subtle coercion of government agencies. Even after my removal, I will still appear before the EACC, record my statement, and speak the truth about the process,” he concluded.
