The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), in partnership with the East African Business Council (EABC), is organizing a significant conference to strengthen collaborations between the private sector, governments, and universities in the region.
The 13th Academia-Public Private Partnership Forum (APPPF)-2025 will be held from March 12 to 14, 2025, in Kigali, Rwanda, under the theme Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship through University-Industry Partnerships for East Africa’s Sustainable Future.”
The forum aims to enhance collaboration between academia, industry, and the private sector across East Africa.
According to IUCEA, the event will provide an interactive platform and exhibition to foster partnerships between universities, technical and vocational institutions, and the private sector.
It will also serve as an opportunity to share best practices and success stories in academia-private sector collaborations.
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is an institution of the East African Community (EAC), a regional intergovernmental organization comprising Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
Established in 1980, IUCEA is headquartered in Kampala, Uganda, and works to promote collaboration among member universities in the EAC region.
Dr. Vincent Gichuru Gaitho, a renowned expert and advocate for sustainable development, will be a keynote speaker at the APPPF. Dr. Gaitho, who serves as the Chairman of the University Council and Pro-Chancellor at Mount Kenya University (MKU), is known for his engaging facilitation and insightful contributions.
The East African Business Council (EABC) highlights that the biennial forum offers a unique platform for academia, industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to network, share ideas, and develop solutions to strengthen academia-industry linkages in East Africa.
“Delegates are invited to showcase their innovations, products, and services to a diverse regional audience,” the EABC stated.
Participants can expect to gain valuable insights through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and exhibitions. “It is an opportunity to expand your professional network with policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and development partners,” the EABC added.
IUCEA will provide conference materials, lunch, and refreshments for registered participants and exhibitors. However, attendees will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
The East African Business Council (EABC) is the regional apex body representing private sector associations and corporates from the eight East African countries. Established in 1997, the EABC works to promote the interests of the private sector in the East African Community’s integration process.
Its vision is to create a borderless East Africa for business and investment, with a mission to drive sustainable private sector-led growth in the region.
