The peaceful Kamandura village in Limuru, Kiambu county was shaken by the horrifying crime that unfolded in broad daylight, leaving residents in shock and sorrow on Monday morning.
A woman, who had been separated from her husband for several months, was returning home from a shopping trip when her life was brutally cut short.
Her estranged husband, driven by motives that remain unclear, ambushed her just a few meters from her home. In a fit of rage, he attacked and killed her, leaving the quiet village reeling from the brutal act.
News of the tragedy spread like wildfire, and a group of angry residents gathered to confront the man responsible for the heinous act.
Their fury turned to determination as they headed to his house, suspecting he might have retreated there after committing the crime.
The house was eerily quiet, the main door locked tight. Undeterred, the residents forced their way inside, hoping to find the man alive and hold him accountable for his actions. But their hopes were shattered when they stumbled upon a grim scene.
In the bathroom, the man lay lifeless, a rope around his neck—a tragic indication that he had taken his own life. The discovery deepened the village’s sense of loss, as two lives had now ended in a matter of hours, leaving behind a trail of heartbreak and unanswered questions.
Limuru OCPD Mary Gachie confirmed the double tragedy. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Tigoni mortuary, where postmortem examinations will be conducted to shed light on the final moments of their lives.
As the village grapples with the aftermath, the incident serves as a sombre reminder of the consequences of unresolved anger and the fragility of human relationships.
