Former CS Mutahi Kagwe
President William Ruto has made significant changes to his Cabinet, introducing former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, ex-Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, and former Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe.
According to a dispatch by Head of Civil Service Felix Kosgei, the reshuffle saw Dr. Andrew Karanja, previously the Agriculture CS, reassigned as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil.
Kabogo has been named the new CS for the Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, while Kinyanjui will head the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry. Kagwe, who served as CS for Health under President Uhuru Kenyatta, returns as the new CS for Agriculture.
In other notable changes, Kipchumba Murkomen has been transferred from the Ministry of Sports to the powerful Interior Ministry. Salim Mvurya has been appointed CS for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, succeeding Murkomen.
Former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura has been tasked with leading the board of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital. Meanwhile, former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi has been appointed to the board of the Kenya Revenue Authority, replacing Antony Mwaura, who moves to the Kenya Rural Roads Authority.
Ababu Namwamba, the outgoing CS for Sports, has been named Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
These appointments signal a strategic reshuffle aimed at strengthening the administration’s leadership across key sectors.
