The Nairobi North Universities League, which commenced in September 2024, is set to officially conclude on the weekend of March 22nd and 23rd, 2025. The league has been a platform for fierce competition and sportsmanship among participating universities.
The awards ceremony was graced by MKU’s Principal of the Student Welfare Division, Mr. Peter Waweru, who emphasized the importance of integrity and adherence to KUSF eligibility regulations. He also highlighted the need for mental health awareness among players, urging conference officials to organize capacity-building forums for athletes, coaches, and sports department staff.
Mr. William Luta, MKU’s Sports, Film, and Creative Arts Coordinator, reflected on the competitive yet successful season, which featured over 20 sports disciplines across both genders. He praised the students for their determination, persistence, and discipline, attributing the university’s success to the unwavering support of the management, coaches, and players.
“The success we see today is a result of sheer hard work, dedication, and the collective effort of everyone involved. We are proud of our teams and look forward to even greater achievements,” said Mr. Luta, who also serves as the Secretary General of the KUSF Nairobi North Conference. He revealed plans to partner with local and international sporting organizations to elevate the conference’s standards and provide players with broader exposure.
As the league winds down, MKU’s teams are now preparing for the Kenya Universities Sports Federation National Championship, scheduled to take place from March 28th to 30th, 2025, at Kenyatta University. The university remains optimistic about replicating its stellar performance on the national stage.
The event celebrated sporting excellence and underscored the importance of mental health, teamwork, and institutional support in nurturing talent and achieving success in university sports.
